Description
Sierra Olympia Vayu HD with 50mm lens
Professional-grade, ultra-high-definition long-wave infrared (LWIR) thermal imaging system ideal for advanced thermal aerial surveying and mapping. This package features the industry-leading Sierra Olympia Vayu HD core, paired with a Gremsy T3V3 gimbal assembly and a custom-engineered enclosure. Built to offer a turnkey, low-SWaP thermal solution for heavy-lift multirotor platforms, this system provides unmatched spatial resolution from the air. The system has been operated for a total of 90 hours, with the sensor manufactured in 2023 and enclosure in 2024.
- Core Sensor: Vayu HD (50mm lens) The flagship of uncooled thermal imaging, the Vayu HD made by Sierra Olympia utilises a cutting-edge uncooled VOx microbolometer array to deliver the highest-resolution LWIR performance on the commercial market. Expressions of interest for the purchase of just this core sensor (without gimbal and enclosure) will also be considered. Performance & core specs:
- Array Format: True Full HD 1920 x 1200 resolution.
- Pixel Pitch: 12 Micron.
- Spectral Response: LWIR (7–14 microns).
- Sensitivity: NETD < 50 mK for exceptional temperature contrast.
- Frame Rate: 60 Hz output for fluid, blur-free aerial tracking and video.
- Optics: 50mm athermalised lens with high-performance AR coating (F# 1.2).
- Field of View: 25.9° x 16.4° (H/VFOV).
- Video Outputs: Highly versatile multi-interface layout providing simultaneous HDMI (1080p), IP Video, and USB3.0-UVC (RAW 16-bit) data streams.
- Onboard Processing: Built-in hardware image processor supporting H.264/H.265 encoded RTP output.
- Image Enhancement: Linear Histogram AGC, CLAHE, LAP, Sharpen, De-noise, and Electronic Image Stabilisation.
- Storage: 32 GB standard high-speed internal storage (expandable to 512 GB) for direct onboard payload recording.
- Electrical: Low power consumption (12W typical / 13.5W max) operating on standard 11 to 14 VDC.
- Command & Control: Camera control fully accessible via Ethernet and Serial (RS-422/RS-232) protocols.
- Development Capabilities: Supports implementation of object tracking, detection with telemetry, and NMEA metadata packaging.
RPAS Ready with Gremsy T3V3 Gimbal and Custom Enclosure
Bespoke engineered enclosure designed specifically to adapt the open-chassis Vayu HD core for rugged, seamless multirotor deployment.
Integration & thermal management:
- Custom Enclosure: 3D-printed housing optimised for weight minimisation (bringing the total payload weight to ≈2.5kg, including gimbal), with a mix of PLA filament utilised including a conductive PLA filament and a carbon black additive to minimise interference and control thermal flow.
- Thermal Regulation: Video processor and sensor heat sinks are exposed directly to the environment to maximise cooling efficiency during extended flights, utilising a controlled internal airflow path to minimise component exposure to harsh external weather conditions.
- Germanium Window: An integrated UQG Optics 3mm thick germanium front-element shield designed to protect the premium primary lens during field operations without compromising optical clarity. AR/DLC coating plus 10º tilt to eliminate internal backscatter and sensor reflection.
- Gimbal System: Pre-configured and perfectly balanced on a Gremsy T3V3 3-axis stabilised gimbal. Previously utilised on the SkyFront Perimeter 8+ RPAS system, but compatible for integration with other aerial systems as per Gremsy documentation.
- Vibration Isolation: Includes a dampened mounting plate engineered to neutralise high-frequency multirotor vibration for pixel-perfect stability.
